 North Hills Celebrates National Sportsmanship Day 2010

National Sportsmanship Day 2009

  • One of the largest sports initiatives in the world, 14,000 schools around the world joined
  • honorary chairperson Pierre Garc,on to promote sportsmanship and fair play.
  • Pierre, who plays for the AFC Champion Indianaopolis Colts, has received acclaim for being
  • a role model, especially for his efforts of his home country Haiti.
  • On Tuesday, March 2nd, the North Hills Athletic Department celebrated the day with
  • team leaders from various sports
  • Guest Speaker: Alexis Maddox/North Hills Graduate/University of Pittsburgh
  • Katie Cowling/North Hills Community Outreach spoke to athletes
  • Senior Basketball player Katie Turzak helped plan the event

  •  Athletic Scholarships Announced

    WPIAL Scholar Athlete Scholarship Information Now Available in Athletic Office 

  • The WPIAL Awards Four $5,000 scholarships and Ten $500 Scholarships
  • to those student athletes who excel in athletics, academics, and community service
  • Students will have to stop in Athletic Office to sign-up and obtain an access password

The "Time to be First" Athletic Scholarship

  •  is for any high school senior graduating in 2010 that has participated on
  •  an athletic team or club. Applicants are required to write an essay describing
  • why it is their time to be first - first at college, first in the community, first in athletics.
  • Applicants will be entered to win one of ten $1,000 Scholarships. Forms availale to download below:

The team finished 18th overall, third highest in school history

Cameron Weber placed 4th at 119, and Ben Amrhein 3rd at 160

North Hills Wrestlers Shine at Sec. 3AAA Tourney

North Hills had 6 finalists, and 3 section champions

9 Wrestler Advance to Regionals, a new team record

The team is  3-0 in Section 3b and 12-4 overall

Varsity Wrestling Team Finished 4th at Wheeling Park Duals

  • They defeated John Marshall WV, Trotwood-Madison OH, Greenbier East WV, and
  • South Garrett MD at the Wes Banco Arena in Wheeling
  • Cameron Weber (8-0), Kraig Esswein (7-0), and
  • TJ McElwaine (8-0) were undefeated throughout the tournament
